Itinerary
Days 1 – 4: Grace at the Cape
With views over the marina and Table Mountain, The Cape Grace really does sit at the heart of it all. Set close to the Robben Island ferry terminal, the hotel offers easy access to everything at the V&A Waterfront – shops, restaurants and holiday services. Table Mountain, the beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton plus the markets and museums of the city centre are all just a short drive or taxi ride away.
There’s an understated elegance to this award-winning hotel, a regular feature on Conde Naste’s Gold Lists of best hotels. The rooms range from inter-leading family rooms with a sleeper couch to the penthouse suite, complete with Jacuzzi with a view.
You’ll have plenty of time to enjoy various activities while you’re there: hiking, biking, wine tasting and a visit to Cape Point and the penguins of Boulders Beach are popular year-round. Time your visit with the spring months and you’ll enjoy whale watching too.
Days 5 – 7: Legendary Londolozi
A short flight takes you from the Cape’s glittering oceans and plump vineyards to the heart of big game country. The Sabi Sands Reserve adjoins the Kruger National Park and offers the double advantage of epic Big 5 viewing (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo) as well as the exclusivity of a private reserve.
You’ll be in the experienced hands of Londolozi Founders Camp, one of the longest-established lodges in Sabi. Famous for the quality of their guiding and hospitality, family-run Londolozi blends 4X4 game drives with nature walks and spot-lit night drives to deliver the quintessential safari. Guests can also visit local communities for an insight into village life, and learn how to track animals. Fishing, birding and local tours complete the full set of activities.
Days 8 – 11: A Riverside Retreat
Breakfast in Sabi, dinner on the banks of the Zambezi: today you’ll fly to Zambia and Tongabezi Lodge, set under giant riverside trees a few miles upstream from thundering Victoria Falls. The lodge provides free transfers to see the waterfall itself and can help arrange any activities in the area that you are interested in. There are scenic flights, elephant-back safaris, white-water rafting tours and bungee jumps to choose from; gentler pursuits include sunset river cruises and bird watching.
Tongabezi mixes romance and exclusivity – ideal for honeymooners – but is equally at ease with families and children. Its suites are among the most luxurious, if not unique, in the area, and range from private cottages behind walled gardens to deluxe tree-houses set over the river.
Day 12: The Journey Ends
You’ll be transferred to Livingstone Airport after breakfast for the end of the tour and your return flight to Johannesburg’s O R Tambo International Airport.
